Description
The MXR M-80 puts the whole front-of-house signal chain into one steel enclosure: DI, preamp, EQ, and a genuinely usable distortion circuit, built to survive load-in, load-out, and everything in between.
- Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs shape both the clean and distorted channels, with a Color switch flipping in a pre-set EQ curve voiced for bass.
- A separate Distortion footswitch brings in the dirt channel independently of the effects bypass, so you can run clean or grind at will.
- Gain sets how much saturation you’re stacking on, while the Blend knob lets you keep your fundamental clean signal underneath the distortion rather than losing it entirely.
- The adjustable noise gate (with its own in/out switch and threshold knob) tightens up sustain and kills hiss when the distortion channel is cranked.
- XLR and parallel 1/4″ outputs cover DI duties for front-of-house and your amp simultaneously, with a Phantom/Ground switch to select phantom power or ground-lift depending on the console.
Runs on a single 9V battery or the Dunlop ECB-003 AC adapter. Whether it’s living on a pedalboard for practical DI/EQ duties or getting pushed hard for that volcanic bass-distortion roar, the M-80 stays straightforward to operate at soundcheck and reliable once the set starts.
