Description
Gallien-Krueger built its reputation on the active 4-band “variable Q” EQ and contour circuit that shaped bass tone for three decades, and the PLEX puts that exact circuit at the center of a pedalboard-format preamp. Every control knob does double duty: press it and an indicator lights blue, unlocking hidden voicing layers beyond a normal tone stack. Dig into extra bass bump for low-end thump, notch out low-mids for a scooped slap tone, tame pick attack with the hi-cut option, or dial in presence to air out a dark cabinet or dead-sounding instrument.
- Four-band active EQ and Contour with selectable Voicing options
- Footswitchable Compressor — variable level, threshold, ratio, attack/release, and a gain reduction indicator
- Footswitchable Overdrive with variable volume/drive and multiple symmetry and voicing options
- Chromatic Tuner with a large, stage-visible LED display
- Direct XLR output with ground lift and Pre/Post EQ selector for FOH or recording
- 1/4″ line output to drive an instrument amp or power amp front end
- USB in/out for direct-to-DAW recording and re-amping
- Aux Input and Phones output for silent practice
- Effects send/return loop
- Compatible with GK MBP powered enclosures
Placement is straightforward: run it at the front of your chain as your always-on tone shaper and DI source, whether you’re feeding a backline amp, going straight to the PA, or skipping the amp entirely. With in-ear monitoring and direct tracking becoming the norm, plenty of bassists are leaving heads at home — PLEX gives you the full GK voice, distortion, compression, and tuning in one signal path, amp or no amp.
