Description
Most wah circuits were designed with guitar in mind, which is exactly why the Cry Baby 105Q exists. Dunlop engineered a dedicated potentiometer and custom EQ voicing for this pedal so the sweep works on bass frequencies rather than fighting them. The result: your low end holds its ground while the wah effect carves through the mids and highs, letting fills and solo lines cut without collapsing the fundamental that anchors the mix.
On a pedalboard, that means you can drop it in for expressive lead moments or funk-style fills without needing to compensate elsewhere in your chain — the bottom stays felt even when the wah is wide open. Players like Flea, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Doug Wimbish, and Robert Trujillo have leaned on this design for that reason.
Beyond the frequency-targeted sweep, the 105Q includes an onboard volume control, so you can dial the wah’s output anywhere from nearly silent to a noticeable boost — handy for pushing wah-driven solos forward in the mix without reaching for a separate volume pedal.
