Description
The DOD 440 envelope filter is back for pedalboard duty in its 2014 form, turning pick attack into vowel-like, talking-filter motion. Dig in and it snaps into a sharp, resonant sweep; play softer and it settles into a smoother wah. A new Up/Down switch lets you decide which half of the filter sweep gets emphasized: guitarists tend to gravitate toward “up” for that classic quacky funk, while bass players lean “down” for cavernous, sub-heavy dub tones.
- Level sets envelope sensitivity — crank it up and even light playing triggers the filter, or dial it back so only harder attack wakes it up.
- Range shapes where the sweep lives across the frequency spectrum: counter-clockwise digs into low end, clockwise pushes toward the highs, with the voice switch fine-tuning emphasis.
- True bypass keeps your dry tone untouched when the pedal’s off, unlike the original 440, which colored the signal even in bypass.
Built on a lighter aluminum chassis with a modern 9V DC power jack, this reissue slots easily into any board without babysitting battery swaps — though a 9V alkaline battery still works if you need it. A crisp blue LED keeps status visible on a dim stage.
Specs: 4.68″ x 2.63″ x 2.25″ (L x W x H), ~0.62 lbs, 1/4″ instrument input (1M Ohm impedance) and output, all-metal chassis, powered by 9V battery or PS0913DC supply.
This bundle includes two free 6″ patch cables, so you can wire it straight into your board without hunting for extra cabling.
