Description
Few compressors have earned ‘Hall of Fame’ status quite like the EBS MultiComp. Sitting near the input of your signal chain, it evens out picking and plucking inconsistencies while keeping the low end intact and the transients natural — no pumping, no dulling of attack.
What sets it apart from a standard single-band squeeze box is the choice of three distinct compression characters: Tubeism for warm, valve-like saturation, Multi Band (MB) for true dual-band processing that treats lows and highs independently, and Normal for a clean, straightforward compression response. Dial in overall Comp/Limit intensity and Gain with two simple knobs, pick your mode, and you’re set — the kind of control scheme that rewards players who’d rather tweak their playing than their pedal settings.
Deeper tone-shaping is still on tap for those who want it: a side-mounted Active/Passive switch adapts the circuit to your instrument’s output, and an internal trim pot lets you fine-tune the Threshold under the hood. This edition carries forward the improvements introduced since the pedal’s 1998 debut — 3 dB of extra headroom, higher sensitivity, refined analog circuitry with lower noise, and true bypass switching — plus the Studio Edition’s optimized signal path, updated relay-based switching, and overvoltage protection up to 18V.
