That’s the sound Xotic set out to bottle with the EP Booster, and it’s why it’s become a staple on boards belonging to players chasing that exact lineage of tone.
Inside is a discrete FET circuit with a low-impedance output, delivering up to +20dB of clean gain. Rather than just making things louder, it reshapes the highs and lows into something more three-dimensional, so single notes and chords alike retain their character instead of flattening out. Internal DIP switches give you control over boost frequency and EQ voicing, letting you tune the pedal’s response to your rig rather than accepting a fixed curve.
The enclosure is compact—just 3.5″ x 1.5″ x 1.5″—with a blue LED indicator and a transparent knob, and it runs happily anywhere from 9V to 18V for extra headroom. True bypass switching means it stays out of the way entirely when it’s off, which matters when you’re stacking it ahead of drive pedals or parking it at the front of the chain to push your amp.
