Description
Alpha·Omega grew out of an eighteen-month collaboration between Darkglass Electronics and bassist/producer Jon Stockman, and it breaks from the brand’s earlier preamp and overdrive designs in a fundamental way. Rather than a single distortion path, it’s fully op-amp based and houses two independent circuits — Alpha and Omega — that you can select individually or blend together with the dedicated Mod knob. Alpha delivers a tight, punchy, well-defined edge; Omega goes raw and brutal. Dial in anything between the two, or land squarely on either extreme.
A Blend control lets the clean signal (held at unity gain) mix with the overdriven path, whose output level is set separately, so you can fine-tune exactly how much grit sits under your low end without losing your original tone. Drive controls the gain going into the overdrive circuits, while Bite (a 2.8kHz high-mid boost) adds cutting presence and Growl (a bass shelving boost) thickens and saturates the low frequencies.
Beyond the overdrive-specific controls, a 3-band active EQ gives you broad tonal shaping:
- Bass: ±12dB @ 80Hz
- Mid: ±12dB @ 500Hz
- Treble: ±12dB @ 5kHz
For live and studio use, Alpha·Omega includes a Parallel Output — a hardwired, unaffected copy of your input signal — plus a Direct Output, a balanced version of the standard 1/4
