Description
The SansAmp YYZ traces its lineage back to a collaboration between Geddy Lee and Tech 21 aimed at simplifying his rig for new projects. That partnership produced the GED-2112 rackmount SansAmp, condensing a mountain of gear into one rackspace. Tech 21 pushed further, shrinking that same core sound into a compact pedal format that’s easy to drop onto any bass board while retaining Geddy’s signature voice and enough range to work across styles.
- All-analog SansAmp circuitry lets you track direct into a DAW or sweeten previously recorded parts. On stage, it can drive a power amp and cabinet, sit in front of your current amp, or feed a PA mixer directly.
- Mix knob dials in the balance between a high-end studio-clean tone and a dirtier, saturated tube bass amp character.
- Tight switch sharpens note definition on cleaner settings and adds snap to distorted tones.
- Drive control governs overall gain and overdrive intensity, mimicking the feel of pushing the output stage of a tube amp.
- Active 3-band EQ for shaping low, mid, and high response on the fly.
- Master volume for overall output control.
- Runs on a 9V alkaline battery (not included) or an optional Tech 21 DC2, DC4, or DC9 power supply.
Whether you’re chasing Geddy’s own tone or just want a flexible DI/preamp box with real amp-in-a-box grit, the YYZ earns a permanent spot on the board or in the signal chain.
