Description
Billy Sheehan’s signature drive already earned a reputation as one of the most musical overdrives built for low end. The Deluxe version takes that foundation and cranks it further, adding headroom, control, and tonal flexibility for bassists who want their distortion dialed to a science.
At the core sits a swappable 8-pin dual inline op-amp — pull the bottom plate and drop in an alternate chip (a compatible list lives on the EBS site) to reshape the drive’s fundamental character, no soldering required. That’s before you even touch the new Boost footswitch, which slams the Drive channel into extreme gain on command. An internal trim pot lets you set exactly how much extra push that boost delivers, and engaging the inverted phase thickens up the low end noticeably compared to the standard pedal.
The Clean Loop and Drive Loop return from the original, opening up creative routing options: run an octave pedal off the Clean Loop for rock-solid tracking while your drive stays active, or drop an EQ into the Drive Loop to sculpt the distortion’s midrange bite. Combine loops however your rig demands.
A built-in compressor — switchable between Off, Mid, and High — keeps note definition intact under heavy drive and smooths the transition between clean and dirty tones. Two internal trim pots give you control over the Threshold and the compression amount in the Mid setting.
