Description
The EBS ValveDrive is a dual-mode tube preamp and overdrive designed specifically around bass frequencies, so low end stays intact while the drive builds on top. Rather than one fixed flavor of grind, it spans a wide range — from vintage tube warmth that thickens a clean tone, through to hard, saturated tube distortion for players who want their bass to scream. That range is set by a gain control running from -oo to +26 dB, giving you fine control at the clean end and real teeth once you push further in.
Onboard EQ (bass, mid, treble) lets you reshape the tone before or after the drive stage, useful for carving space in a mix or cutting through a dense band. True bypass keeps your signal path clean when the pedal is off, and the -8/-16 dBv input switching means it works properly whether your bass is active or passive. Input impedance sits at 1 Mohm, so pickups aren’t loaded down.
Housed in a retro-styled chassis of steel, chrome, and Bakelite, the ValveDrive looks like a preamp, not a stompbox afterthought — a nod to the classic gear it draws inspiration from, with simple, direct controls that make dialing in a tone fast.
