Description
Bass signals swing hard, from thumped low-end peaks to whisper-quiet ghost notes, and the Bass Preacher is EHX’s answer built by bassists who wanted control without losing feel. Drop it right after your instrument, ahead of drive or modulation, and dial in everything from a light leveling touch to a fully squashed, sustained tone that never fades.
- Purpose-built compressor/sustainer for bass guitar
- Input sensitivity spans -10 dBu to +2 dBu, so it locks in properly with passive and active basses regardless of output level
- Up to 21 dB of gain reduction, with make-up gain restoring full volume even at maximum squash
- Attack toggle offers Fast, Medium, and Slow settings, letting you shape how quickly compression kicks in after a note is played
- True bypass keeps your dry tone untouched when the pedal’s off
- Durable die-cast enclosure built for the road and the board
Set the attack to Slow and you preserve pick or finger transients before the compression clamps down, great for a punchy, present low end. Switch to Fast for an immediate, controlled ceiling on peaks—handy for slap or aggressive playing. Either way, the Bass Preacher sits transparently in a mix or gets pushed into an obviously compressed, sustained character, depending on how far you turn it.
Runs on the included 9V battery, or an optional 9.6VDC-200mA adapter (sold separately) for pedalboard power setups. Current draw is 33mA. Dimensions: 4.5 x 2.75 x 2.1 inches.
