Amp Mode isolates the exact MOSFET boost circuit built into Jackson Audio’s popular PRISM Preamp — the mode PRISM owners consistently call their go-to. MOSFET transistors are prized in boost circuits for their amp-like clipping behavior, but many designs on the market suffer from an audible crackle when you sweep the boost knob. Jackson Audio engineered that noise out entirely, so you get a dead-silent control that unleashes a harmonically rich, unapologetically loud boost on demand.
On a pedalboard, Amp Mode is a multi-tool: run it as an always-on preamp to add body to your core tone, stack it ahead of an overdrive to shove that pedal deeper into saturation, or place it after your dirt box to clarify and push the guitar forward in a busy mix. Brad Jackson himself has built entire lead-tone strategies around stacking two of these boosts around a Klon — one always-on, one kicked in for rhythm grit, and both engaged together with the Klon for a saturated, articulate lead voice.
The single Boost knob governs overall gain. Turned fully counter-clockwise it’s not off — it acts as a unity-gain buffer that protects your signal from degrading over long cable runs. Bypass is true mechanical switching, and the enclosure is compact with top-mounted jacks for tight board real estate. Power it anywhere from 9V to 18V DC (center negative); pushing it to 18V opens up extra headroom and dynamic response, but never exceed that ceiling.
