Description
The Optimist packs three separate circuits under one footswitch layout, giving pedalboard builders a single-box solution for tone-shaping that usually eats up several slots. OD1 recreates a famously scarce, mid-focused overdrive circuit down to its germanium diodes, delivering the warm, natural breakup that made the original a cult favorite among session players and collectors alike. OD2 takes the opposite approach: a flat-response overdrive that stays neutral across the guitar’s full range, making it equally at home driving rhythm parts on its own or stacking behind OD1 to add harmonic thickness without smearing the tone.
- OD1: mid-centric overdrive voiced after a rare, historic circuit, built with germanium diodes for natural saturation
- OD2: flat-response overdrive ideal for rhythm work or stacking with OD1
- Bypass-able active EQ based on the classic Baxandall topology, tuned specifically for guitar frequencies
- Studio-grade EQ with high bandwidth, flat response at 12:00, and +/-12dB boost/cut per band
- Center-detented pots for quick recall of a neutral EQ setting
- Full MIDI control over OD1, OD2, and EQ functions for deep integration into programmable rigs
Because every function responds to MIDI, The Optimist slots into complex switching systems just as easily as it sits on a simple board with a single overdrive channel. Whether you’re chasing a transparent boost for clean chime or a saturated, harmonically rich lead tone, this pedal keeps both circuits and the EQ working together instead of fighting for space in your chain.
