Think of the Prism as a signal-chain command center rather than just another boost. Jackson Audio built it around a systems approach: buffer, boost, preamp, active EQ, and overdrive all living in one laser-engraved stainless steel enclosure, each circuit voiced to work with the others instead of fighting for space.
The heart of the Prism is its active EQ — a TONE and BODY pairing that each swing +/-15dB with zero interaction between them. Adjust the highs and the lows stay put, and vice versa. Drop the Prism at the front of your board and it becomes a master EQ for your whole rig, letting you re-voice everything in one move when you swap guitars, amps, or venues instead of chasing tone knobs across every pedal.
For boost duties, three fully discrete circuits sit in their own true-bypass loops, sharing no components with each other:
- TRANS — a clean, uncolored boost
- AMP — voiced to emulate vacuum tube amp preamp character
- COLOR — a vintage silicon treble booster circuit, best fed straight from the guitar
A PRE GAIN switch dials in HIGH (lead breakup), MED (rhythm breakup), or LOW (max clean headroom) for whichever circuit you’ve selected, while the BOOST knob acts as an overall output level control. Jackson Audio recommends running the Prism first in the chain to get the most from both the EQ and the COLOR circuit.
Bypass is handled by silent relay switching rated for 100,000+ cycles, triggered by a soft-touch momentary footswitch that also unlocks a programming mode for setting LED brightness and boot-up state. A high-current buffer at the output end keeps your tone intact through long cable runs and busy boards.
