Description
Sitting near the front of your chain, the Compressor Plus takes the classic Keeley recipe and hands you real control over how it behaves with your instrument. Instead of guessing at attack and release, flip the dedicated Release switch to match your pickups: single coils get the fast recovery they need to stay articulate, while humbuckers keep their punch instead of collapsing into a dull, over-squashed mush.
Under the hood it’s a compressor paired with an expander/sustainer, so as your note decays the pedal feeds in progressively more gain rather than letting it die early. Bends and sustained chords bloom naturally instead of fading flat.
The Tone control borrows its circuit from vintage analog delay emphasis stages, gently restoring the top-end sparkle that compression tends to smear. Pair it with the Blend knob to bring your original attack and phase-correct dry signal back into the mix, layering it against the compressed/sustained signal underneath — you get transient snap and long, singing decay at once, rather than choosing between them.
Because of that flexibility, it earns its place on boards built for funk snap, ambient swells, looping (where consistent, well-balanced levels matter most), or simply as a transparent boost that shoves an amp into its sweet spot. Stack it ahead of a fuzz for a thick wall-of-tone sound, or run it clean for that classic squeeze-and-shine Keeley players have chased for years.
