Description
Before pedalboards got complicated, the Phase 90 was already doing the work — one knob, one sound, and it just worked. The CSP026 ’74 Vintage edition traces that sound back to MXR’s own 1974 unit, reverse-engineered down to the component level rather than approximated from a schematic.
The board is hand-wired with resistors and hand-matched FETs chosen to mirror the original’s spec sheet, which is where a lot of that smooth, syrupy modulation actually comes from — not just the circuit topology but the tolerances of the parts feeding it. Drop it in front of a dirty amp and it thickens everything up; put it after gain and it adds motion without turning to mush. Either way, this is the phase tone that ended up on more classic records than most players realize, largely because it does one thing extremely well.
Housed in the correct orange enclosure with the Script logo, this is a well-loved used unit — the kind of pedal that earns its scuffs.
- Hand-wired circuit board built to original 1974 component spec
- Warm, analog phase character
- Deep, rich modulation from hand-matched FETs
- Classic orange finish with Script logo housing
