Description
This MXR flanger has stuck around for a reason: it covers far more ground than a typical one-trick flanger. Dial in the dramatic, swooping jet-plane and spacey sci-fi sweeps it’s known for, or back the Width knob down to zero to kill the auto-sweep entirely and use the Manual knob instead — that lets you park the effect’s frequency center exactly where you want it, opening the door to short delay, chorus, and vibrato-style tones. It works just as well on bass, keys, and vocals as it does on guitar, making it a flexible option for a mixed pedalboard or studio chain.
- Footswitch engages/bypasses the effect, with a red LED confirming when it’s active
- Manual knob sets the frequency center of the effect once auto-sweep is disengaged
- Width knob at zero turns off auto-sweep; turning clockwise increases the total phase sweep
- Speed knob controls the modulation rate
- Regen knob feeds the effect back into itself, intensifying the overall phase effect
Placement-wise, flangers like this typically sit post-distortion/overdrive and pre- or post-delay depending on how you want the sweep to interact with your tone — earlier in the chain for a more textured, saturated flange, later for a glassier, more transparent modulation on top of your existing sound.
Runs on two 9-volt batteries or the included Dunlop ECB-004 18-volt AC adapter, so you’re set up for power straight out of the box.
