Description
The MXR SuperComp M132 builds on the legendary Dyna Comp platform that’s anchored countless studio sessions and stage rigs, but adds a crucial control the original never had: attack level. Where classic compressors force a tradeoff between smooth sustain and preserved pick dynamics, the SuperComp lets you have both, or lean hard into either direction depending on the part.
Place it early in your signal chain and use the sensitivity knob to set your compression ratio, from a light touch that just evens out your dynamics to a heavy squash that turns single-note runs into a wall of sustain. The output knob keeps levels sitting properly in the mix once compression is dialed in. What sets this pedal apart is the attack control, which governs how much initial pick transient gets through before the compression circuit clamps down. Keep it open for percussive, chunky rhythm tones that cut through a country or pop mix, or roll it back for that seamless, singing lead sustain that never loses its front edge, even with hot pickups on board.
It’s a workhorse for players chasing tight, spanky funk and Nashville-style rhythm parts, but it’s just as much at home smoothing out lead lines or tightening up a loose-sounding single-coil.
- Power: single 9-volt battery or Dunlop ECB-003 AC adapter
- Footswitch: toggles Effect On/Bypass
- Output knob: sets compressed (attenuated) output level
- Attack Level knob: sets attack attenuation (higher setting = less attenuation, more pick bite)
- Sensitivity knob: sets compression ratio (higher setting = more compression)
