Description
The Poly Blue Octave is MXR’s do-it-all pitch pedal for players who want more than a single sub-octave grumble. It splits your signal into four separate octave divisions — one and two octaves down, one and two octaves up — each with its own dedicated level knob, plus an independent dry control so you can build the exact blend of pitch-shifted and clean tone in your chain. Every division tracks polyphonically by default, which means full chords hold together as cleanly as single-note lines, a real advantage over older analog octave designs that fall apart on anything but monophonic input.
Flip the Mono switch and the character shifts entirely: sub-octaves take on the raw, warm growl reminiscent of the MXR Vintage Bass Octave, while the upper octaves lean into Octavio Fuzz territory with the intensity backed off. Hold the Fuzz button and use the Dry knob to dial in gnarly, Blue Box-inspired fuzz across all five signals at once — thick and subterranean under the low octaves, searing and synth-like on the highs.
A dual-mode modulation circuit adds motion to the mix: Leslie-style swirl in poly mode, Phase 90-style swoosh in mono mode, controlled by a single Mod rate knob (fully counterclockwise kills it). An EXP jack lets you hook up an expression pedal or tap switch to sweep between two saved configurations or toggle fuzz and mono modes hands-free mid-song.
Housed in MXR’s rugged enclosure with true bypass switching, the Poly Blue Octave is built to anchor the pitch-shifting corner of any board.
