Description
The original Uni-Vibe is baked into psychedelic-era guitar history, that watery, Leslie-cabinet-like pulse that thickens a signal without ever sounding like a modern chorus pedal. MXR shrunk the whole circuit down into a Phase 90-sized enclosure, so you get that vintage swirl and throb without giving up half your pedalboard real estate.
This listing is an open-box unit graded Mint — it’s been out of its packaging (maybe for a demo, maybe just inspected) but shows no signs of play wear and functions exactly as a new one would.
Controls are kept deliberately minimal so the tone stays front and center:
- VIBE switch flips between Chorus Mode (dry blended with pitch-shifted signal) and Vibrato Mode (pitch-shifted signal only)
- LEVEL sets how loud the effect sits against your dry tone
- SPEED dials in the sweep rate, from slow wobble to fast flutter
- DEPTH controls how deep and pronounced that sweep feels
On a pedalboard, this is a great one to place after your gain stages and before any reverb or delay — the pitch-modulated wave interacts beautifully with ambient trails, and keeping distortion upstream preserves the vibe’s chewy, organic character rather than smearing it. It also plays well as a standalone texture pedal for clean rhythm parts, adding motion without the metallic edge some digital modulation can introduce.
True bypass switching means it stays out of the way entirely when off, so it won’t color your tone or add noise elsewhere in the chain. If you’ve wanted a taste of Hendrix- and Trower-style swirl without hauling around a vintage Uni-Vibe and its expression pedal, this is the practical, pedalboard-friendly route to that sound.
