Description
Most chorus circuits split dry and vibratoed signal right down the middle, which is exactly why so many of them end up sounding thin or metallic. The Electric Blue Chorus (EBC) sidesteps that by giving you a dedicated Blend knob, letting you set the mix anywhere between subtle and saturated instead of being locked into a fixed ratio.
Under the hood, EBC relies on a sinewave generator rather than the more common triangle-wave modulation, which is what gives it that gentle, liquid quality even at higher Chorus settings. Push the Depth control further and the character leans into vibrato territory — a trait that sets it apart from more clinical-sounding chorus pedals.
Because filtering is kept minimal, the EBC stays quiet and transparent through the signal chain. That matters most when you’re pairing it with gain: place it before a distortion pedal for a floating, swirling texture, or after for a more direct modulated crunch — it holds up either way without the treble loss or noise older chorus designs are known for.
- BLEND — balances dry and modulated signal; turn up for a more intense effect
- DEPTH — sets modulation depth; turn up for deeper, wilder modulation
- SPEED — controls the internal oscillator rate
Starting points worth trying: Strong Chorus (Blend 5, Depth 3, Speed 12), Floating vibe-tone (Blend 5, Depth 4, Speed 10), Fast rotating speaker (Blend 3, Depth 3, Speed 5), and Mild Chorus (all knobs at 12).
Built to Mad Professor’s usual small-footprint, big-tone standard, true bypass throughout.
- Input impedance: 400K Ohms
- Recommended output load: 2K Ohms
- Current draw: ~40mA @ 9V DC
- DC supply range: 9–12V
- True bypass
