Description
The Ruby Red Booster pairs two of Mad Professor’s most requested circuits — a BJF-style Little Red Trebler and a Red Rooster-derived booster — wired in series behind a single Master Volume. Run them together or dial one back to zero; either way you get a booster that covers treble sparkle, transparent clean boost, and full-blown overdrive from the same footprint.
TREBLE isolates roughly 15dB of top-end lift centered near 4kHz, with a bass slope tuned so the boost stays musical rather than thin or icy. BOOST supplies up to 40dB of gain and starts self-distorting once pushed hard, letting you go from a subtle push to gritty amp-front saturation without another pedal in line. MASTER sits after both stages, acting as your overall output trim — useful for taming volume jumps when you’re using the pedal to slam an amp’s front end.
Open the enclosure and you’ll find a buffer switch: choose true bypass or leave the unity-gain buffer engaged when the pedal is off, which helps preserve treble and drive through long cable runs or busy boards. Input impedance sits at 500K to load pickups naturally; buffer output impedance is set slightly below typical pickup DC resistance.
- Voltage gain: ~+40dB boost, +15dB treble peak at 4kHz
- Input impedance: ~500K Ohms; recommended output load: 50K Ohms or higher
- Signal-to-noise ratio: 110dB; bandwidth: 70Hz–7kHz
- Power: 8–18V DC, ~6mA draw at 9V
- True bypass or internally switchable buffer
Small box, big flexibility — one of the more versatile boosters you can put on a board.
