Description
Piezo pickups tell the truth about your acoustic’s plugged-in tone, and often that truth is thin and a little glassy. The Boss AD-8 rewrites that story with COSM Acoustic Modeling, reshaping your signal into one of six respected acoustic voices, including Martin and Gibson-style character, without swapping instruments or pickups.
Beyond straight modeling, the AD-8 pushes further with Body and String Enhance controls that emulate the depth of a properly miked acoustic, filling out the low-mid warmth and string presence that pickups alone tend to miss. A reverb voiced specifically for acoustic sources sits alongside a 4-band EQ, so you can dial in anything from a subtle room tone to a fuller hall ambience, then shape the tone to match the room or the song.
For anyone gigging, the practical touches matter: an onboard chromatic tuner (built on Boss’ TU-Series design) mutes the output and displays pitch on an LED readout right at your feet, four preset memories let you jump between sounds instantly, and Auto Anti-Feedback keeps things under control at volume. Round it out with balanced XLR outs featuring ground lift for a clean DI run straight to a PA or recording interface, plus a dedicated Electric Guitar Amp output and unbalanced stereo outs for flexible routing.
On a pedalboard, the AD-8 works best as your acoustic’s dedicated front-of-chain processor, feeding either an amp, DI, or both simultaneously for stage and house mix.
