Description
Long before phasers became a pedalboard staple, one design set out to mimic the whirl of a Leslie rotary speaker — and in doing so, invented a sound all its own. Mr O digs into the DNA of that original six-stage circuit, replicating its distinctive LFO waveform shape (which subtly morphs as speed changes, just like the vintage unit) rather than settling for a generic modern sweep. The result feels alive and a little unpredictable in the best way, with the same elusive character that made the original a studio and stage favorite.
Where the vintage pedal offered only three fixed speed settings and nothing else, Mr O opens things up for players who want to dial in that classic voice with more precision:
- Speed – sets the LFO rate, faithfully tracking the original’s waveform shifts across its range.
- Depth – dialed left for a subtle, chewy phase shimmer; pushed right for a deeper, more dramatic sweep where the waveform’s character really shows.
- Color – controls feedback regeneration, from smooth and warm on the low end to sharp, resonant peaks when cranked.
- 4/6 switch – toggles between the original six-stage phasing (up) and a leaner four-stage voice (down).
For a quick start into vintage territory: set Speed, Depth, and Color to noon with the switch up in six-stage mode — that’s your medium-speed baseline. Roll Speed left for the slow setting, or into 2-3 o’clock for the classic fast sweep. Push it further right and you’ll cross into vibrato-speed territory for players who like to push past the original’s limits.
Built true bypass, Mr O runs on a standard center-negative 9V DC supply (not included) and draws roughly 70mA — an easy fit for any board’s power budget.
