Description
The BF-3 picks up where BOSS’ revered BF-2 left off, translating two decades of flanger pedigree into a pedal built for today’s boards. Drop it into your modulation block—after fuzz or drive, ahead of your delay/reverb—and it turns a static tone into a moving, three-dimensional one, from subtle shimmer to full jet-swoosh drama.
- Ultra mode piles on extra depth and resonance for the fattest flange BOSS has offered in this format
- Gate/Pan mode chops the signal into rhythmic, panning slices—closer to a slicer effect than a traditional flange, and a great way to add motion in a stereo rig
- Momentary mode snaps the effect on the instant you step down, useful for one-off swells or accents mid-song
- Tap tempo lets you set the sweep rate on the fly with your foot, no reaching for a knob mid-set
- Separate Guitar and Bass inputs with true stereo outputs (Output A mono, Output B), so it tracks low end accurately and spreads wide in a stereo chain
Controls stay straightforward: MANUAL, RES, DEPTH, RATE, and MODE knobs sit alongside the pedal switch, with a CHECK indicator doing double duty as a tempo light and battery monitor. Delay time runs 0.3–14.4ms on the guitar input and 0.3–6.3ms on bass, with LFO speed spanning 100ms to 18 seconds—room enough for both fast, jet-flange sweeps and slow, ambient washes.
Runs on a 9V battery (included) or the optional PSA-series adaptor, drawing 40mA. Backed by BOSS’ five-year warranty and housed in their compact, stage-tough enclosure at 73mm wide, 129mm deep, 59mm tall, and 420g.
