Description
The Blue Note built by J. Rockett Audio Designs isn’t chasing the usual tube-screamer blueprint — it’s carving its own lane with a woodsy, organic blues character and more available gain on tap. At the heart of its versatility is the added “Hot” switch, which lets you toggle between a flat EQ response for transparent, amp-like breakup and a mid-forward voice that’s thicker and juicier when engaged. That switch adds gain, volume, and a low-mid goose all at once, so you’re really getting two overdrive personalities in one enclosure. Because it can sit flat or hot depending on the gig, the Blue Note adapts to clean boosts, gritty rhythm tones, or lead work without needing a second pedal on your board. It’s a feel-first drive that plays nice with virtually any guitar and amp pairing.
Controls
- Gain — clockwise for more saturation, counterclockwise for a cleaner edge
- Tone — subtle shaping of high-end sparkle and smoothness
- Fat — a gentle low-end trim, handy for balancing humbuckers against single coils
- Volume — sets overall output level
- Hot Switch — engages extra gain, added bite, and a slight midrange push
Specifications
- Dimensions: 4.75″ x 3″
- Powered by a 9V negative-tip adaptor (5.5mm x 2.1mm jack) or a 9V battery
- True bypass switching for a transparent signal path when off
Power Supply
Like all J. Rockett Audio Designs pedals, the Blue Note runs on a standard BOSS-type 9V adapter or a single 9V battery. The power jack is 5.5mm x 2.1mm with positive voltage on the outer sleeve. Plugging in an external supply automatically disconnects the battery — unplug the input jack when not in use to preserve battery life if you’re running on battery power alone.
