Description
Before it ever hits your first fuzz or overdrive, tone starts at the pickup — and the Suhr V70 neck pickup is built to give your board something worth shaping. Hand-built using Suhr’s proprietary winding process, it channels the raw, expressive character of vintage 1970s single coils, the era when Blues and hard rock collided and guitarists leaned hard into multi-step bends and soaring solos.
Alnico V magnets paired with plain enamel wire and vintage-correct gray fiber bottoms give the V70 a tone that’s tight in the lows and shimmering on top, with a dynamic response that reacts to every nuance of pick attack and volume swell. That responsiveness makes it an ideal front-end for drive pedals and compressors — you get the input signal doing real work rather than fighting a flat, sterile pickup. A modified staggered pole piece design creates an even magnetic field across the strings, so bends stay balanced and sustained, and the design also plays nicely with the flatter neck radii common on modern guitars.
