Description
The Deep Six V3 takes Walrus Audio’s best-selling compressor and refines it without touching what made it a pedalboard staple. It still blends 1176-style studio punch with the dead-simple operation of vintage Ross and Dynacomp circuits, but the V3 revision adds real playability upgrades on top.
- New Tone knob (bass cut) for shaping low-end tightness before it hits your amp
- Soft switch/relay bypass for quieter, more dependable switching
- Full SMD circuit conversion for a hi-fi voice and long-term build reliability
- Top-mounted jacks for cleaner pedalboard routing
- Refreshed graphics by Adam Forster, nodding to the original artwork
Four controls — Level, Sustain, Attack, and Blend — give you far more shaping power than a typical stomp compressor. The Attack and Blend pair is especially useful for players running humbuckers or active pickups: dial in the compression character you want, then use Blend to reintroduce your dry signal and cancel out any unwanted distortion from hot output sources. A built-in polarity correction circuit means you never have to worry about wiring mishaps, and internal voltage is doubled to 18V for extra headroom while current draw stays a modest 8.9mA.
Place it early in your chain for smooth sustain and even picking dynamics, or push it toward the front of a dirt-heavy board to tighten up your attack before drive pedals. Runs on 9V DC at 8.9mA; measures 4.77 x 2.9 x 2.3 inches. Walrus Audio recommends an isolated power supply — daisy chains aren’t advised.
