Description
The Walrus DEFCON 4 hands you surgical control over your core tone before it ever hits the rest of your chain — or drops in at the end to shape what’s already there. Rather than a single global EQ curve, it splits your signal into Low, Mid, and High bands, each governed by its own rotary switch for dialing in exact frequency adjustments.
- Independent rotary switches for Low, Mid, and High bands
- Dedicated toggle for each band, so you can activate or bypass individual frequencies on the fly
- Built-in Mosfet boost adding up to 10dB of clean gain
Because each band has its own on/off toggle, the DEFCON 4 works as more than an EQ pedal — it becomes a flexible preamp for correcting weak frequencies, carving space for other pedals downstream, or pushing a dirty amp harder without smearing your low end. Stack the Mosfet boost on top for a solo lift or to shove a tube amp into breakup, all without losing the tonal definition you dialed in with the band controls.
Placement is where this pedal earns its keep: run it first in the chain to tighten up a muddy guitar or bass before drive and modulation pedals, or park it at the end to act as a final EQ/boost stage feeding your amp. Either way, the DEFCON 4 gives pedalboard builders a genuinely useful tone-shaping tool rather than just another gain stage.
