Description
The XW-1 traces its voice back to the 1967-1968 Italian-made Clyde McCoy wah, long considered the benchmark for that vocal, throaty sweep. Xotic didn’t just clone it, though — they built in real-time control over the parameters that made those originals special, so instead of one fixed wah tone, you get a pedal that adapts to your rig, your pickups, and your ears. On a board packed with drive and modulation, that flexibility matters: dial the XW-1 into your fuzz, your humbuckers, or your single-coils rather than fighting a one-size-fits-all sweep.
- Wah-Q and Bias controls let you reshape the filter’s width and warmth — cold-bias for glassy, transparent vintage character, warmer bias for fatter output and firmer low end.
- Two-band EQ (Treble/Bass) with +/-15dB center-detent pots for fine voicing adjustments.
- Gold contact relay true bypass switching rated for a million-plus cycles — signal stays clean and uncolored when off.
- Fuzz-friendly buffering circuit keeps the wah playing nicely ahead of vintage-style fuzz pedals.
- Self-lubricating nylon bushing pivot for a smooth, quiet treadle with adjustable rocker tension.
- 20% smaller footprint than standard wah enclosures, easing pedalboard real estate.
- Adjustable rubber stopper and hex-nut torsion control to fine-tune treadle travel and feel.
- LED indicator flashes when battery drops below 50%.
Internally, a dip-switch bank adjusts the resonance frequency range and an input gain trim adds up to +6dB of boost, giving techs and tone-tweakers another layer of control beyond the external knobs. Runs on a 9VDC (006P) battery or a 9VDC/5mA external supply (2.1mm negative center), with true bypass throughout.
