Description
The Wooly Mammoth was engineered to keep sub frequencies intact — no thin, hollowed-out fuzz here, even when you’re pushing a bass rig. Guitarists have latched onto it just as hard, drawn to its unusual voicing and the eerie gate lurking inside its gain structure.
- EQ knob sweeps between bass-heavy and treble-forward tones, letting you tune the fuzz to sit right in a mix or dominate it.
- Gate control shapes the silence between notes. Dial it left for a symmetrical waveshape and a smooth, creamy fuzz with subtle intermodulation distortion as you push it. Roll it clockwise and the waveshape narrows into asymmetrical pulses — reedier, brassier, and paired with an unusually smooth gating effect that drops your signal into near-total silence the instant you stop playing.
Place it early in the chain for a fuzz that reacts honestly to your instrument’s dynamics, or pair it with modulation/reverb after for atmospheric, gated swells. It works equally well fed by a clean bass or a guitar looking for something weirder than a standard fuzz face circuit.
This is a Vexter Series unit — same internal parts as ZVEX’s hand-painted models, housed in a silk-screened enclosure to keep cost down without touching tone.
- Pedal Dimensions (LxWxH): 4.70″ x 2.38″ x 1.82″
- Powered by 9V DC, center-negative (standard Boss-style adapter)
