Description
This is Ernie Ball’s original full-size volume pedal, wired at 250K to sit correctly ahead of passive pickups and vintage-style circuits without dulling your tone. The long, weighted foot sweep lets you ride volume swings with real precision — whether you’re fading in a solo, tapering a chord, or ducking down for a clean rhythm part mid-song.
What sets this pedal apart from a basic volume knob is the built-in switching jack mounted right on the footplate. That switch runs on its own isolated circuit, completely separate from the audio path, so you can use it to trigger other gear in your rig — flipping amp channels, kicking on a bypass loop, or firing a tuner mute — all with the same foot motion you use to control volume.
Placement on the board is flexible depending on what you want it to do:
- Early in the chain, near your guitar, for volume swells and dynamic control feeding into your drive and modulation pedals
- Near the end of the chain, after time-based effects, for smooth fade-outs on delay and reverb trails
- Paired with the switch jack to sync channel changes or bypass functions to your foot movement
Full-size housing means a stable platform under your foot and consistent taper across the sweep, session after session. If you want a mono volume pedal that does double duty as a control switch without adding another footswitch to your board, this is a straightforward, reliable way to get there.
