Description
The Ernie Ball Expression Ambient Delay ditches the usual knob-turning ritual in favor of a foot-sweepable treadle, putting delay-and-reverb blending under real-time control mid-performance. Delay time ranges from tight 50ms slap-back to sprawling 750ms repeats, with the wet signal layered under a dedicated reverb wash rather than kept as a separate effect stage — so the two textures merge into one ambient tail rather than stacking as distinct blocks in your chain.
Heel down keeps your dry signal untouched; toe down rides all the way into maximum ambient delay level. Everything between is fair game, so you can ease into a swelling wash during a solo or snap back to clarity for the next verse without touching the pedal’s small onboard knobs mid-song. Those knobs — Delay Time, Delay Feedback, and Reverb Level — set the character of the effect itself, while the treadle handles how much of it you’re actually hearing at any given moment.
Built for guitarists who want ambient textures without babysitting a mix knob, this pedal rewards placement toward the end of your signal chain, after drive and modulation, where its blended delay-reverb tail can catch the full shape of your tone.
