Description
The original EP-3 tape echo defined a generation of guitar tone, but good luck fitting one on a pedalboard — or affording the upkeep. The EP103 Echoplex Delay shrinks that legacy into a compact analog stompbox with no cartridges, no maintenance, and none of the vintage-gear anxiety.
- Delay: sets repeat spacing from 40ms to 750ms
- Sustain: controls how many repeats trail off
- Volume: sets output level of the repeat signal
The dry signal runs through a hi-fi, all-analog path built on Constant Headroom Technology, giving you a full 20 volts of headroom so your clean tone stays clean. The repeats, meanwhile, get the same tonal shaping found in Dunlop’s EP101 Echoplex Preamp — for the complete EP-3 treatment, run an EP101 ahead of the EP103 and let it color your dry signal too.
Push the Volume knob and you’re into Age mode: turning clockwise darkens the repeats, adds tape-style saturation, and stacks on wow-and-flutter modulation until your delays sound genuinely worn-in and distressed. It’s a one-knob trip from hi-fi clarity to lo-fi decay.
Add an M199 MXR Tap Tempo Switch for tap-tempo control up to 4 seconds of delay time. The EP103 also offers 100% wet operation, stereo I/O, and your choice of true relay or trails bypass — making it flexible for both simple boards and elaborate stereo rigs.
