Carl Martin built this Compressor/Limiter to bring the precision of a professional studio compressor onto the pedalboard. Rather than a one-knob squeeze box, it hands you full independent control over threshold, compression ratio, attack/release response, and output gain — the same shaping tools you’d expect from a rack unit, packed into a stompbox.
Turn the Threshold knob counter-clockwise to bring more of your signal under compression (how much depends on your instrument’s output). The Comp control, turned clockwise, governs how hard that captured signal gets squeezed. Resp sets attack and release speed — slow settings preserve a crisp, audible attack while fast settings deliver near-silent limiting that just tames peaks. Gain restores or boosts overall output level. A Busy LED glows brighter as more compression is applied, even while the pedal is bypassed, so you can see exactly how hard it’s working.
Place it early in your signal chain to even out pick dynamics before drive or modulation pedals, or push it later for a tighter, sustained lead tone. With a 105dB signal-to-noise ratio, 1M Ohm input impedance, and just 0.05% THD, it stays transparent rather than smearing your tone.
