Bass players know the frustration of overdrive pedals that were designed with guitar in mind — low end disappears, note definition turns to mush. The EBS MultiDrive was built around bass frequencies from the ground up, giving you Class A overdrive and sustain that stays articulate no matter how hard you push it.
A three-way mode switch lets you move between classic, vintage, and modern overdrive voicings, so you can match the drive character to the song rather than settling for one flavor. True bypass keeps your clean tone untouched when the effect is off, and the post-2008 revision brought a reworked analog circuit with 3 dB more headroom, lower noise, greater dynamic response, and mechanical true-bypass switching for a more reliable on/off feel.
Under the hood, the MultiDrive pairs its overdrive stage with an onboard compressor (ratio adjustable from 1:1 to 5:1, threshold from -25 to +6 dB via an internal trim), giving you a way to tighten dynamics before or alongside the drive itself. Attack is fast — under 10ms to reach 80% — with a typical 100ms release, so transients stay controlled without feeling clamped down.
