Born in 1966 out of engineering work at Thomas Organ Company, the GCB95 is the wah that Hendrix and Clapton leaned on to give their leads that vocal, sweeping cry — and it’s the sound most players still measure other wahs against. Rock the treadle back and you get a bright, cutting sweep; ease off and it settles into a warm, throaty growl, making it just as useful for funk chank as it is for sustained lead lines.
Place it early in your chain, ahead of gain and modulation, to get that classic wah-into-drive interaction, or push it after your overdrive for a more vocal, filtered snarl — either way, the GCB95’s simple mechanical design keeps the sweep smooth and predictable under your foot, with no unexpected dead spots.
Built in the USA with the same ultraheavy-duty construction that’s kept the original Cry Baby on boards for decades, this pedal is made to survive stomping, touring, and years of gigging.
