The Xotic EP Booster distills the preamp character of the legendary EP-3 tape echo into a pedal you can drop anywhere on your board. It’s the same secret ingredient that colored the tone of guitarists like Page, EVH, and Johnson, minus the tape machine — just the harmonically rich push that made their amps sing.
Built around a discrete FET circuit with low impedance output, it delivers up to +20dB of clean, uncolored gain. Rather than a one-note volume bump, the boost carries shimmering top end and full low-end weight, so leads cut through without turning brittle or fatiguing your ears over a long set. Internal DIP switches let you dial in the boost frequency and EQ voicing, so it works whether it’s pushing the front end of a tube amp, waking up a dark humbucker, or adding sparkle ahead of your dirt pedals.
Housed in a compact 3.5″ x 1.5″ x 1.5″ enclosure with a blue LED and transparent knob, it runs on standard 9V power but can be pushed up to 18V for extra headroom. True bypass switching keeps your signal path clean when it’s off.
