The Xotic BB Preamp v1.5 is less a single-trick booster than a shaping tool for your entire signal chain. At its core sits a versatile gain stage capable of pushing over 30dB of clean boost, paired with a two-band active EQ that swings ±15dB to carve or fatten your tone with real harmonic depth rather than just volume.
What sets it apart on a pedalboard is the pre-gain stage ahead of that boost circuit. Dial it back and you get pristine, transparent clean headroom that stays true to your guitar and amp. Push it forward and the BB shifts into a smooth, compressed overdrive character — ideal for adding sustain and grit without losing note definition. This makes it equally at home as an always-on tone sweetener at the front of your chain or as a mid-gain push into a dirty amp.
True bypass switching keeps your signal path clean and uncolored whenever the pedal is off, so it won’t rob tone from the rest of your board.
