The Robotalk 2 doubles down on Xotic’s envelope filter design by giving you two separate filter channels that can run independently or be blended together for layered, complex textures. Each channel is voiced on its own, so you can dial in a slow, acoustic-style attack on one side while setting the other for fast, percussive open-close chatter — then mix the two to taste. Internal dip switches let you fine-tune the response further, so you’re not stuck with a single flavor of quack.
On a pedalboard, the Robotalk 2 earns its space by adapting to whatever’s feeding it. A switchable input pad handles both active and passive pickups without flubbing out, and true bypass switching keeps your tone clean when the effect is off. Place it after your drive pedals for a vocal, synth-like filter sweep, or run it earlier in the chain for a more percussive funk response — the dual-channel blend gives you room to shape where in the frequency and dynamic range the filter reacts.
