Description
The Microtubes X7 takes the dual-band distortion concept that studio engineers have relied on for years and puts it under your feet. Instead of one blanket drive circuit, it splits your signal into a high-pass path (for grit, edge, and articulation) and a low-pass path (for weight and low-end integrity), letting you dial each side separately before recombining them into a single, cohesive voice. The result is a pedal that can move from surgical high-gain snarl to blooming, gnarly fuzz to a subtle, punchy push — all with the low end staying solid underneath.
- High Pass Frequency: sets the cutoff point fed into distortion, from 100Hz (thick, fuzzy saturation) up to 1kHz (razor-sharp definition)
- High Drive: controls distortion amount on the high-pass side
- High Level: output volume for the distorted high-pass signal
- Low Pass Frequency: sets the cutoff blended back in on the clean side, from 50Hz (pure sub-bass) to 500Hz (retains clean mids)
- Low Comp: compression amount for the low-pass signal
- Low Level: output volume for the low-pass signal
- Master: overall output volume
A 4-band EQ gives further shaping: Low shelf ±12dB @ 80Hz, ±12dB @ 500Hz, ±12dB @ 1kHz, and High shelf ±12dB @ 5kHz. A Parallel Output passes your unaffected input signal through for blending rigs, while the Direct Output offers a balanced ¼” feed suited to PA systems or studio mixing consoles.
Measuring 12×10.7cm (4.72×4.21in), the X7 is built for bass players who want tone-shaping precision without sacrificing low-end punch — a preamp that behaves less like a single distortion stompbox and more like a mixing console for your grit.
