Description
The DOD Gunslinger builds its dirt around a MOSFET clipping stage, chosen because it breaks up gradually rather than slamming into a hard ceiling. That gives the distortion a tube-preamp-like feel where the harmonics stay musical even as gain climbs. Play soft and the pedal backs off into a cleaner, more open tone; dig into your strings and it pushes into thicker, more aggressive saturation. That touch-sensitivity makes it a natural fit for players who ride dynamics within a set rather than sticking to one fixed gain setting.
Tone shaping is handled by separate Low and High controls, letting you scoop or push either end without one knob fighting the other — useful for cutting through a dense band mix or fattening up a thin single-coil. Gain and Level round out the four-knob layout, giving a wide spread from mild grit to full-on saturation with plenty of output on tap for pushing a clean amp harder.
Housed in a brushed-metal aluminum chassis with a blue status LED, the Gunslinger is built to survive life on a busy pedalboard. True bypass keeps your unaffected tone untouched when the pedal is off, and switchable 9V or 18V operation gives you extra headroom if you want it.
