Description
The Black Metal is Egnater’s pure analog answer to high-gain metal tones, covering classic thrash crunch through modern djent-ready saturation. Its High and Low EQ knobs work alongside the signature Tight switch (-6dB/octave roll-off at 110Hz) to keep low tunings from turning into mud, holding the low end tight and articulate no matter how far you drop.
Noise control comes courtesy of a built-in “fast gate” with two sensitivity settings, letting you dial in cleanup for either aggressive palm-muted rhythm work or lighter picking dynamics, plus selectable Hard or Soft threshold behavior. A separate foot-switchable mid-range circuit gives you a second voice on the fly: scoop the mids hard for heavy rhythm parts, then stomp into a boosted mid range for solos that actually cut through a dense mix.
Housed in a solid zinc enclosure built for touring abuse, the Black Metal also includes an automatic bypass system paired with a sealed relay true-bypass switch, so a weakening battery (flagged by a low-battery LED) won’t kill your signal mid-set.
- Volume and Gain controls
- Low EQ: +8dB / -10dB @ 180Hz (passive)
- High EQ: +6dB / -8dB @ 4kHz (passive)
- Tight switch: -6dB/octave roll-off @ 110Hz
- Gate with selectable Hard or Soft threshold
- Foot-switchable Mid section — Depth: -18dB to +15dB @ 400Hz (active); Level: -10dB to +8dB (active)
- Low battery LED indicator
- Automatic bypass with sealed relay true-bypass switching
Place it after your tuner and any drive-stacking overdrives, ahead of modulation and time-based effects, for a high-gain core that stays defined at any tuning.
