Description
The Bass9 runs on the same polyphonic pitch-tracking engine found across EHX’s 9 Series line, but its algorithm is tuned specifically for clean one-to-two-octave-down transposition, so chords and single notes alike hold together without warble or lag. A rotary dial puts nine bass personalities at your foot: PRECISION channels the classic P Bass thump, LONGHORN leans into Danelectro-style baritone growl, FRETLESS covers both upright and electric fretless textures, SYNTH nods to the Taurus pedal-synth low end, VIRTUAL lets you dial in your own body size and neck length, BOWED delivers orchestral upright tone, SPLIT BASS keeps low strings as bass while your top strings stay free for chords or leads, 3:03 emulates the TB-303’s acid-bass character polyphonically, and FLIP-FLOP recreates a glitch-free ’70s logic-driven sub-octave sound.
Because it’s tracking pitch rather than just adding octaves, the Bass9 wants your cleanest, most consistent input signal — place it early in the chain, ahead of drive, modulation, or delay, so it has an unprocessed note to analyze. An always-on Dry output jack passes your original guitar signal at unity gain for parallel rigs or blending, while separate Effect and Dry volume knobs let you balance the bass voice against your natural tone at the Effects jack. Controls 1 and 2 remap per mode — in PRECISION, for instance, CTRL 1 shapes sub-octave content while CTRL 2 mimics the original instrument’s tone knob.
