Description
The String9 hands guitarists (and bassists) a rotary switch into nine distinct orchestral and synth-string worlds, built on the same polyphonic engine that drives EHX’s other 9 Series pedals. Nothing to install, no pickup swaps, no MIDI setup — plug in and the tracking simply works.
- SYMPHONIC – full symphony orchestra swell, with an octave-down layer on lower notes for added weight
- JUNE-O – channels the Juno® analog string synth
- PCM – warm, vintage string-section tone lifted from an old PCM keyboard sample
- FLOPPY – Orchestron® optical-disc warble and all
- AARP – the classic ARP Solina® string sound
- CREWMAN – Crumar Performer®-style analog string/brass hybrid
- ORCH FREEZE – orchestral tone paired with EHX’s Freeze sustain
- SYNTH FREEZE – synth strings held infinitely via Freeze
- VOX FREEZE – Mellotron®-style choir/strings (from the MEL9) locked in with Freeze
Three of those nine presets bake in EHX’s signature Freeze effect, letting you sample and hold a note or chord indefinitely — great for building ambient pads under a lead line or gluing a chord under a tapped melody. Separate Effect and Dry volume knobs let you dial the exact blend at the Effects jack, while a dedicated Dry output always passes your unaffected signal at unity gain, so this sits cleanly on a board feeding a splitter, looper, or second amp path. Controls 1 and 2 are reprogrammed per preset, tailoring specific parameters to whichever ensemble sound you’ve selected. Compact and rugged enough for gig duty, and it ships with its power adapter.
