Description
The Vintage Ultra V2 takes Darkglass’s saturation-driven overdrive and preamp platform and wires in real studio-grade routing options. At its core is the same Blend/Level/Drive circuit that lets you dial in anything from a subtle harmonic thickening to a fully saturated growl, layered over a clean signal path that stays at unity gain no matter how far you push the Drive.
Tone shaping runs deep here: dedicated Bass and Treble controls sit alongside switchable Lo Mid (250Hz/500Hz/1kHz) and Hi Mid (750Hz/1.5kHz/3kHz) bands, each offering ±12dB of cut or boost. The Attack toggle governs how much treble content gets pushed into saturation — Boost for extra bite, Flat for untouched clarity, Cut to tame harshness — while the three-position Grunt switch adds low-end weight ahead of the clipping stage for everything from tight and articulate to full-bodied low end.
What sets V2 apart is the added DI flexibility: a single user-loadable cabinet simulation impulse response can be swapped via the Micro-USB B port and Darkglass Suite software, giving you a different speaker character on the balanced XLR output without touching your amp. That XLR out has its own switchable cab sim (bypass it for zero-latency signal) and a Ground Lift toggle for silencing hum-inducing ground loops. A 3.5mm headphone jack with an onboard stereo amp — rated to drive loads down to 16 ohms — rounds things out for quiet practice or late-night writing sessions, with the Master knob doubling as both your overall volume trim and headphone/DI level control.
