Description
Few instruments carry the harmonic complexity of a real sitar, and the EHX Ravish is Electro-Harmonix’s attempt to fit that complexity into a pedalboard-friendly box. It splits your signal into two distinct voices: a polyphonic lead that tracks your playing note-for-note with an adjustable decay time, and a sympathetic drone layer that resonates underneath everything you play, mimicking the buzzing sustain of a traditional sitar’s resonant strings.
Rather than a fixed “sitar sound,” the Ravish is built for customization. You choose the key and scale for the drone strings from a set that spans major, minor, and exotic modes, letting the pedal shadow your riffs in whatever tonal world you’re working in. Because that drone layer reacts to dynamics, harder picking pulls out more shimmer and sustain, while a lighter touch keeps things subdued and woody.
Two expression pedal inputs extend the instrument even further: one bends the pitch of the lead voice, the other sweeps the volume of the sympathetic strings, and both can be run at once for real-time morphing between your guitar tone and full sitar drone. Placed early in a signal chain, the Ravish gives fuzz, drive, and modulation pedals something genuinely unusual to chew on, or it can sit further downstream as a texture generator for ambient and drone-based rigs.
