Description
Resophonic guitar has a voice that’s brutally hard to fake through a pickup—until you route through Fishman’s Aura imaging. The ProAIPJD1 carries 16 custom Aura Images that Jerry Douglas developed and actually plays live, each one modeling the sound of a finely miked resonator captured in a real room. Blend that imaged tone against your raw pickup signal and you land on a voice that reads as acoustic even at stage volume, no separate mic or DI needed on the board.
Under the hood, 24-bit A/D/A conversion and 32-bit internal processing keep the imaging clean and detailed rather than digital-sounding. Dial in the Image select, set Blend to taste against your pickup’s natural tone, and use the input trim (with clip/low battery LED) to keep levels healthy before the signal ever hits the mix. A dedicated Phase switch tames feedback when you’re pushed near the monitors, and a true bypass/mute footswitch lets you kill the signal silently between songs.
Fishman built this one alongside Jerry Douglas, engineer Bil VornDick, and resonator builder Paul Beard—so the images aren’t generic presets, they’re tuned specifically for how a resophonic guitar actually behaves.
