Description
The Forest Green Compressor (FGC) from Mad Professor is built around a simple idea: compression shouldn’t cost you clarity. The circuit runs extremely quiet across its entire range, with a generous overload margin that lets you push a wide dynamic input without piling on distortion or noise. That headroom matters whether you’re taming a slap bass attack or smoothing out a guitar’s pick dynamics.
A dedicated tone control lets you fine-tune the compressed signal – roll it counter-clockwise for full-range compression, sit it around noon for a tighter feel with slightly less low end, or turn it fully clockwise to ease off the upper treble.
Flip the mode switch and the FGC becomes a different animal. Compressor mode gives you classic peak-limiting-to-heavy-squash behavior. Sustain mode preserves the initial attack while amplifying the decay, so slide players and blues players get long, singing sustain without losing that first touch-sensitive transient.
- LEVEL: Overall volume in Compressor mode (works as a clean boost too); adjusts sustained-signal level in Sustain mode
- COMPR: Dials in compression/sustain amount – start near 10 o’clock for most guitars
- TONE: Shapes the compressed tone for transparency
- Compressor/Sustain switch: Internally fine-tuned attack and decay times per mode
Electrical specs: 9-18VDC supply, 14mA current draw at 9VDC, 1M Ohm input impedance, 20K Ohm output impedance, true bypass.
This unit is open box and graded mint condition.
