Think of the Para Driver DI as the missing link between your instrument and a mixing console — a floorboard-friendly preamp/DI that behaves like a tube channel strip without the tubes. Built on Tech 21’s SansAmp circuitry, it smooths out the brittle, quacky top end that plagues piezo-loaded acoustics, replacing it with a rounded, mic’d-cabinet warmth. Works equally well on electric and bass guitar, and upright bass, whether you’re running direct to FOH or feeding an amp on stage.
The Drive control lets you dial in anything from a whisper of grit to full-on saturation, so this box can sit quietly shaping tone or step forward as a dirty boost when a song calls for it. Onboard is a semi-parametric EQ with active controls offering 12dB of cut or boost and a sweepable frequency band, giving you far more precision than a standard three-knob EQ.
Version 2 keeps the exact same core tonality as the original but adds two acoustic-focused tools: a Rumble Filter that cuts sub-sonic buildup and handling thumps, and an Air switch that lifts top-end sparkle and clarity for acoustic sources.
Signal routing is flexible enough for pro rigs:
- Active tone controls with 12dB of cut or boost
- Sweepable semi-parametric EQ
- 1/4″ 4.7 megOhm instrument level output
- 1/4″ and XLR outputs with selectable levels
- Parallel, unaffected output for sending a dry signal to a separate channel
